Welcome to the XtremWeb publication. This platform serves as a technical journal and research hub designed to bridge the gap between two domains: large-scale distributed computing systems and disciplined, standards-compliant web architecture.

Historically, XtremWeb emerged as a pioneering open-source platform for lightweight Desktop Grid computing. Developed by the Grand-Large research group, it explored how to harness the idle CPU, storage, and network capacity of volunteer workstations to build powerful compute grids.

On this site, we expand that analytical engineering mindset into the realm of web development. A website, at its core, is a distributed interface. The decisions we make regarding HTML semantics, CSS efficiency, asset loading, and server configuration directly impact resource utilization, latency, and accessibility.
